The hot summers are harsh and challenging times for us, humans and pets alike, energy levels are low and general discomfort is in the air, as the rising temperatures test our temperaments.
During this testing climate, here are a few ways you can help make your dog’s life easier and more comfortable:
- Water is Your Best Friend!
Splash it, drink it, play in it. Make sure you and your doggo get plenty of H2O and fluids. Hydration is the most important thing. However, please beware of feeding human energy drinks to your dogs as they are very harmful.
2. Never Leave Your Dog in a Parked Car
A parked car, even with the windows open, can be hot as hell, no matter if you have parked your car in an area with shade, heat can still accumulate within. Please take your dog along wherever you are headed, or you just might be sentencing them to a heat stroke.
3. Avoid Shaving Your Dog
Although it is believed that shaving your dog completely helps keep a check on temperatures, it can have adverse effects. A well-trimmed coat of fur can act as protection from sunburn and overheating.
4. Moderate Physical Activities
A little bit of activity is needed however, the dangers of overexerting your dog always loom large. A great way to keep the active lifestyle going would be to step only when the sun is down or hasn’t risen yet.
5. Beach Beach Mein
If you’re heading out to the beach, ensure that your dog doesn’t ingest salt water, give them a good rinse after the session and apply good quality pet sunscreen.
These were a few tips on how to enjoy summers with your pets to the fullest, so be safe and have a great day out with your furry babies!
